Submitted by Tisdale [reprinted from The Villager ] Doug Tisdale has announced his intention to run for mayor of Cherry Hills Village in the municipal election set for April 3. Tisdale was the District 1 councilman on Cherry Hills City Council from 2000 through 2008, serving as mayor pro tem of Cherry Hills from 2006 through 2008.“I was privileged to serve the people of Cherry Hills – who elected me by wide margins in my two races for councilman – for eight years. There were some challenging issues in the Village, and I helped steward those issues, with the aid of strong leadership from outgoing Mayor Mike Wozniak and my fellow council members,” Tisdale said. “Now that Mike [Wozniak] is leaving as mayor due to term limits, I want to return to the council as its mayor and continue to implement the programs we have in place, and devise new ones, to preserve Cherry Hills as the best place to live in Colorado.”Tisdale, a resident of Cherry Hills for 24 years, is president and CEO of Tisdale & Associates LLC, a Colorado-based law firm concentrating in commercial litigation, real estate and international affairs. While on the Cherry Hills council, Tisdale represented the Village on the board of the Denver Regional Council of Governments for six years.“I was successful in securing for Cherry Hills a position of singular power with the agency responsible for regional planning and transportation funding and was appointed to the Executive Council of DRCOG,” Tisdale said.During his service, Tisdale drafted dozens of bills designed to enhance life in Cherry Hills. His leadership and legislative skills served to render complex issues capable of understanding and final resolution.“There were so many community programs I spearheaded; I hesitate to single out any. A revitalized parks and trails program, implementing the Blue Ribbon Panel recommendations, renegotiating our cable TV franchise agreement, securing our own cable channel 22, enhancing cell phone service, bringing digital broadband into the Village—these are a few that stand out,” said Tisdale. “Along with personally sponsoring the Youth-Adult Summit put on by the Cherry Creek School District, and getting the Village to sponsor it as well.”“Cherry Hills is not only special because of its physical place. Its people are special. Cherry Hills is a unique collection of talented, educated, dedicated and generous leaders in the community. It will be my privilege to inspire and to lead these people. I ask for their votes.”Tisdale is a graduate of The University of Michigan and The University of Michigan Law School.
